Beckwith Street Looking North (2) PC

War Memorial PC

Purchased from Ebay July 11/ 2012 for $3.47 this undated postcard of the War Memorial on Confederation drive I'm sure pre-dates 1970.

Rideau Lakes Vacationland (2) PC

Postmarked January 9/ 1967, this aerial picture looks north.

On the right side, middle, you can make out the Glenwood mansion on the corner of Market and Chambers Street, which is no longer standing as of 1992.  A block north of Glenwood, on the right of Market Street, you can see the Smiths Falls Public Market building.  Torn down in the early '70's, it is the building with the green roof.

The back of the card reads as follows:

Mrs Don Wilson
426 Grosvenor St.
London, Ont.

Have been thinking of Vicki and her trip.  Hope she's enjoying it all.  We arrived home safely on the Friday Dec. 30.  but have hardly returned to normal yet.  We were in such a whirl this year Diane & I felt as though we'd missed the quiet times of Christmas.  We heard no nice music just people talking.  Hope your folks made the trip back to London safely it was good of Don to take the day off & come down.  We appriciated it.  Will write soon.  Love Marion.

Beckwith Street Looking North (1) PC

Purchased from Ebay, this card looks north.  No postmark on this card but someone had written 1964 on the back.

On the right, Hotel Walker, Astor Restaurant, Clark & Lewis Sporting Goods, Loans, Smolkins,

Business Section PC

A June 22/ 2012 Ebay purchase for $6.94, this undated card shows the business section, at the time anyway.  On the building of the left, you can make out a sign advertising farm equipment.  The building on the right is the sign for the old Capitol theatre.  I block up from the theatre you can see a sign for a hotel.

Canoe Club House PC

Another Ebay purchase on June 22/ 2012 for $8.94, this card shows a building that I had never known to exist.
Postmarked February 5/ 1907, the back of the card reads:

Miss Eliza Prescott
Lombardy Ont.

Dear Eliza:
Oh, I beg your pardon Miss Prescott I should say.  How are you getting along since Sunday night.  I am feeling better today. Nigger Boyd is up in our room.  He is cutting up too.  You will have to excuse me for writing with a pencil. I broke my pen point when I was writing the other card.  Be sure and show up the night of the sawing. How's the M.Ch. music.
From your English Friend

Canada Post Card 2

Purchased from Ebay, this postmarked May 31/ 1897 card has no writing on the back, and what seems to be only a date and address on the front.

Chambers Memorial Hospital PC

Purchased from Ebay March 28/ 2012 for $3.43, this card lists the hopital as Chambers Memorial Hospital although the sign on the front of the hospital clearly states Smiths Falls Public Hospital.  Closed a long time ago, this card is significant to me because I can remember volunteering in high school at this hospital.
